The Search for the Elusive Peacoat

Today we decided to buy peacoats. Girl-sized peacoats, that is. No big deal, right?

We went to the mall first. Sears, Penney's, and Dillards to be exact, with a quick stop off at Bath and Body Works to spend a gift card that needed to be used before December 24th.

We found black, girl-sized peacoats at Dillards. Exactly what we were looking for. Except that they were $80 each, meaning I'd have to spend $160 to buy them for my girls. Instead, at Dillards, we bought black hats, gloves, and scarves to match the coats we were determined to find.

Then we stopped at Target. They had adorable pink tweed coats and red coats, and on clearance for $24.98 each. But the girls wanted black. So we headed to Kohl's. On the way there, O reminded me how desperately she needed a hair extension so that she can more appropriately dress the part of Leia, Princess Leia, that is. So we took a quick spin past Beauty Express which was closed, and then we went to Kohl's.

No peacoats. Not a one.

Then on to Sally Beauty Supply (closed) and to Walgreens (where we successfully bought the hair extension, with O's own money of course), then off to Ross where there was also no peacoats.

Sigh.

Finally, back to Target where we all convinced ourselves that pink tweed and red peacoats were perfect and exactly what we were looking for.....

I was going to suggest Target for those Pink tweed coats. I have picked those up multiple times and put them back down again. So cute on your girls. They look picture perfect.
I love the stockings hung on the chimney with care.
Merry Christmas!

Love the coats. They look like sophisticated princesses.

Don't tell, but my girl is getting a fire engine red peacoat for Christmas. I scored a beauty at Old Navy. Pricey at $80, but it is her "big gift" and she will get many winters of wear.

And they are perfect. In fact, they are downright adorable :)

Glad you survived the shopping outing...I can't even imagine how many people there must have been out there!

This story actually makes me jealous. Here all we can do is look at several different Army/Air Force bases...and none of them have much selection. *sigh*

Glad you found what you wanted!

Well they look absolutely adorable, and quite colorful. I prefer little girls in colors anyway.

If it makes you feel any better, I've been looking for a peacoat in a petite size, because while I am undertall, and I have been to basically all those stores you have mentioned, to no avail. No peacoats for little ole me.

Very cute. I swear, sometimes it's so hard to find plain old solid color stuff, you know? I'm gonna open a store and call it "Basics" and it's just gonna have solid color t-shirts, pants, sweaters, coats, shorts, jeans, etc. So that I can find more than just logo and character crapola...

Those coats are adorable on your girls! My oldest has a light pink and white tweed from Old Navy a year or two ago and it is still cute on her.

We don't have much of a selection in this town. My friend who lives a couple of hours south of here has been thinking about moving closer to us. I told her the one thing she would miss is the shopping! I didn't think of it this way, but she said that down there it is a shopping culture. Meaning there is nothing to do bu shop two hours south of here. I agreed and am now glad we do not live in a shopping culture. We live here for completely different reasons.

On the upside your daughters would look adorable in paper bags. You must be having so much fun on these adventures.
