A.R.K.

We saw the movie Evan Almighty last night, and call me a sap, but I loved it. It has a wonderful message and some terrific dialogue.

Take this for example---

God: If someone prays for patience, do you think God gives them patience or does he give them opportunities to be patient? If someone prays for courage, do you think God gives them courage or opportunities to be courageous? If you pray for your family to become closer, do you think God zaps you with warm fuzzies or does he give you opportunities to show your love for one another?

Heh? Good questions, yes?

If you haven't seen the movie, I don't want to spoil it for you. But let's just say that a Congressman wants to change the world. His campaign slogan is "Let's Change the World." God appears to him and asks him to build an ark.

An ARK?

Yes, says God. How do you change the world? One act of random kindness at a time.

One single Act of Random Kindness at a time. It's a good motto to live by. And it was a sweet movie.

I want to see it, haven't yet. This totally reminds me of a Colin Raye song I love, love, love - so true:

I knew all the answers
The way my life should go
And when I used to say my prayers I would tell God so
It seemed he wasn't listening
I thought he didn't care
But looking back it's plain to see
He was always there

When I prayed for strength
And I got pain to make me strong
I prayed for courage
And got fear to overcome
When I prayed for faith
My empty heart brought me to my knees
I don't always get what I want
I get what I need

There's more, but that's the gist. Love it. So true.

I've heard a lot of people making fun of this movie, but I agree, it does have a great message. And I very much agree that random acts of kindness can change the world.

Excellent questions...

I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. I saw it on a trans-Atlantic flight without headphones. Let's just say it wasn't' quite as good without sound :)

This is the next movie to ship to me from Netflix. Both my kids saw it and loved it. Thanks for the recommendation. I look forward to popping some popcorn and having some laughs.

That was the quote that got me - and we just watched the movie, too!!

A lightbulb went off for me. "Ohhhhh....all those times I prayed for patience with the kids."

I was waiting for the Boom! My prayers have been answered so many times, and I never knew it.

Have been dying to see that movie. Now I'm really wanted it.

As for sue's insightful comment. Mental note to myself: Don't pray for strength as I might get pain. (Yeah, don't really like pain...)
